As you can see from previous posts I have been training to run an ultra-marathon for 3 years. Specifically the Green Man but I also have in my sights the Exmoor Coast 100, the Cotswold Way (about 115miles) and a few others.
But, I always get to about this point in my training and something happens. Not with my training, I’m pretty good at this shit by now but something else. This time last year it was literally broken ribs; I had just bought lovely new trainers then COVID put paid to all of our plans.
Yesterday I wore those trainers for ony the second time and banged out a fairly successful 20 miles. I feel good and am going for 10 miles tomorrow. This puts me as close to running the Green Man as I have ever been. Maybe, just maybe….
My trainers finally got muddy. Shame, they’re things of beauty.
The pictures below are on the way up to Dundry Hill – the only real hill on the Green Man. The mud is shin deep and slippery as hell – the Salomon Speedcross 5 GTX’s are definitely the best trainers I have EVER worn for muddy terrain.
