My first visit to Forest of Dean bike park yesterday with friends new and old age it was tip top.

Out of the hundreds of bikes that were there I was struck by how amazing bikes are, generally. Credited as one of the reasons for our significant keep in evolutionary intelligence they provide is with transport and fun in equal measure.

Quite why they have become the targets of so much vitriol from drivers I’ll never understand as every commuter on a bike is one less car on the road. But hey ho – human nature, I guess.

It is this nature that means I took a small amount of pleasure doing all the trails on my gravel bike – the only one seen all day. I win the day.
