For those that don’t know the story about 30 years ago a young chap called Joe broke his leg while coming down a mountain. His climbing buddy (Simon) heroically rescued him putting his own life in considerable danger. Things got so bad Simon had to cut the rope that joined them, plunging Joe to almost certain death. The resulting survival story set the template for many tales of derring-do subsequently. Including my own.

Anyway. I have been lucky enough to be involved with the stage dramatic recreation of this legendary story.

Here’s a preview of what I was doing; putting the young actors through their first ever experience of climbing.

They enjoyed it but we’re suitably chastened. It was scary. This doesn’t come across but they were.
